Obituary

On the evening of January 10, 2018, God picked a beautiful, bright yellow rose for his garden. A 40 year resident of Laguna Hills, California, Sajee “Jeannie” Udomsilpa passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.  She is survived by her loving husband Komute “Eddie” Udomsilpa; daughter Victoria “Torrie” Plata and her husband Ed; grandsons Tyler, Brayden and Kyle Plata.

Sajee was born in Thailand on November 17, 1936.  She attended Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok for her undergraduate studies in Public Administration from 1961-1964.  She also taught at the American Embassy in Thailand.  Sajee then received the highest honor of a full ride scholarship from the King to come to the U.S. to earn her Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1966.  Upon graduation, she worked for the Thai Civil Service Commission in Sacramento, CA and Washington D.C.  She married Komute, the love of her life, on December 3, 1971.

She helped run Komute’s “Chef Eddie” family restaurant business in San Clemente, CA and also had a career with Prandium Restaurant Group for nearly 20 years.  As a favorite hobby and side business, Sajee was best known as the local “AVON lady”, where she won numerous sales awards and was a repeat recipient of the President’s Club designation year after year.  She loved coordinating her brightly colored clothing with her vibrant lipstick colors.

Sajee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.  Such a zest for life, she was spunky and full of sunshine.  She celebrated every holiday and loved cards, flowers and balloons. Because of her love for life, her most favorite and celebrated holiday was the birthday of those she loved.  And, she never forgot a birthday.  Ever!  Anytime someone would tell her “I love you,” her response was always, “I love you MORE.”  And when she would say goodnight whether on the phone or in person, she would sing, “Good night, good night, I will see you in my dreams.”  She will for sure live forever in our dreams.

“Sunrise, there’s a new sun rising

In your eyes, I can see a new horizon

Realize, that will keep me realizing

You’re the biggest part of me

Rainbow, rising over my shoulder

Love flows, getting better as we’re older

All I know, all I want to do is hold her

She’s the life that breathes in me

Forever, got a feeling that forever

Together, we are gonna stay together

Better, for me there’s nothing better

You’re the biggest part of me

Beside me, need your loving here beside me

To guide me, keep it close enough to guide me

Inside of me, from the fears that are inside of me

You’re the biggest part of me”

  1. Oh Torrie, Jeannie was quite an amazing woman!!! Brought tears to my eyes. She is the epitome of love. Sending prayers of strength to you and your family. May she rise above and her spirit and zest for life live on with each of you. Love, Tammy

  2. Torrie, your mom’s loving light will continue to shine through you and the many lives she touched in her lifetime. As I learn more about your mom, I hope to adopt some of her loving ways like telling people I love you MORE. I continue to keep you, your dad, and family in my prayers.

  3. Torrie,

So sorry for your loss. Your Mother seemed like such an angel and a great loss to all. Sending love and light to you and your family.

Torrie, my sincerest condolences to you, your Dad, and family. I wish I had spent more time getting to know your Mom. Just by looking at her pictures, I could tell she was a sweet person with a big heart. She will forever be your guardian angel.

  5. Torrie – We were blessed to see your Mom and Dad walk-thru the neighborhood everyday in Laguna Hills. They were the cutest and funniest couple we’ve ever met. So glad to have known her for a moment!
