Obituary
Ruthie Marie Haglund Brown, beloved mother, mother-in-law, Grandma Farmor (Swedish for Grandma), and auntie went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan 26, 2025. Ruthie was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Jakob Olof (Ole) Haglund and Tara Signahild (Signa) Larson on December 19, 1939. Her beloved brother was Hans and sister, also her best friend, was Stina (known by most as Chris).
Ruthie’s father was a sheet metal mechanic for United Airlines, who decided San Francisco would be a better hub than Cheyenne, so the Haglund family had to move West. The family moved to Redwood City, California. Ruthie enjoyed academics and music. She attended Sequoia High School and Monterey Peninsula College. Ruthie moved to Lake Tahoe where she gave birth to her son, Stephen. She and Stephen moved back to Redwood City so Stephen could be watched by his grandparents known in Swedish as Mormor and Morfar. Ruthie eventually moved her and Stephen back to the Tahoe area. While Stephen was in junior high, she decided to move the two of them to Vacaville to be closer to her sister Stina and Stina’s family.
Ruthie lived in Vacaville for 35 years while working at Solano Community College for 25 of those years where she was beloved by the staff, faculty and students. She loved her church family, Calvary Chapel Solano, where she devoted many hours to the children’s ministries and small group fellowships. She lived her last five years in Mission Viejo, California in order to+ be closer to her family. She is survived by her son, Stephen, with his wife Dawn Marie and their four children, Bradley, Natalie, Jonathan, and Christopher with Bradley’s wife Claire, and Natalie’s finance Jeremiah. She delighted and cherished each of her grandbabies and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Ruthie will be laid to her final rest in Pacific View Mortuary and Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, California.
