Obituary

Ruth Frances Denning Sacher passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 19th, 2018 with all of her children and their spouses around her.

She was born on June 22, 1930 in Smethport, PA to Paul and Emily Denning.

She is survived by her sister Evy Denning Ross, her husband Fred Sacher Sr., her 4 devoted children; Fred Sacher Jr. (wife Jackie),  Ken Sacher (wife Lynne), John Sacher (wife Krissy), and Sharon Sacher Andrews (husband Horace), all of whom adored and loved their mother deeply.

Mimi Sacher has left a legacy that also includes 9 adoring grandchildren, and 9 cherished great grandchildren.

Ruth loved God, Family, this country, and people above all.

She enjoyed bright happy colors, especially those of autumn leaves. She also loved beautiful music, painting, and all things chocolate.  Hummingbirds held a special place in her heart.

Ruth’s sense of adventure could be seen early on, as she and her husband Fred moved from the east out to California in the late 1950’s.

She modeled to her family (4 guys at that point) the importance of kindness towards others, hard work, and respect.  Then, in 1970, their daughter Sharon Kay was born. The Sacher house was now an even busier place, doing business, school, church, and living life together. Through it all, Ruth’s signature was calming presence that was a continuous gift to her family.

Ruth Frances Sacher was a unique, beautiful, and bright light of a woman who was always committed and devoted to her entire family.

Her wisdom, kindness, and “sunshine smile” will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

  2. Paul Denning says:

This is a beautiful tribute to an aunt that I loved dearly. She was sweet, generous, warm, loving and supportive. She was always interested in listening and responding. She was a great sister to my Dad, Glenn, and to all her siblings. I will always remember her and miss her.

My memory of Aunt Ruth will always be in my heart. When the girls and I came for a visit, she showed me how to cut a grapefruit with a special grapefruit knife.I was amazed ! Even though it was a small thing, Every time I see a grapefruit knife I have this fond memory of Aunt Ruth. God Bless you all. Also the love she and Uncle Fred showed us through the growing up years of my girls 43 years since the loss of our Robin.

Sharon, my deepest condolences to you and yours. I know your mom was a gem of a human being. I feel privileged to have met her.

  5. Sweet Aunt Ruth – I surprised her sleeping near their door as I felt called to visit before leaving for Viet Nam. Our phone conversations in many later years taught me more about her special grace. A wonderful memory is from 2003 during the event in Odessa NY celebrating the diversity in our family tree. A cousin formed a prayer circle at the Denning family plot there and she and I held hands as all did in the circle of faith, love and unity. I recall a simple thing, too – she enjoyed Snickers candy bars as I once did – the simple pleasures in life. Eternally connected in the reunion of family beyond.
