Ruth Phyllis Dumond died on May 3, 2024 at the age of 94 at Atria Golden Creek in Irvine, California, an assisted living community. She was born on July 6, 1929, in Portland, Maine, to Joseph and Rose Dumond.

Ruth grew up in Lewiston, Maine with her four sisters Claire, Frances, Catherine, and Martha, and her four brothers Bernard, Maurice, Louis and Alfred (Fred.) In 1947 she graduated from Lewiston High School and then graduated in 1949 from the School of Medical Technology at Central Maine General Hospital.

In 1952 Ruth moved to Los Angeles California to be near most of her family who had also moved to the West Coast. Ruth earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Mt. St. Mary's College in 1964. She worked as a social worker & health services coordinator at Our Lady Of Victory Catholic School in Compton from 1970 to 1975.  Ruth was also the Executive Director of Windmill House Group Home for Adolescent Girls in San Diego from 1975 to 1980. Ruth worked as a medical technician & administrator for various hospitals in the Orange County & San Diego areas until she retired in the late 1980's.

Ruth was known by the name Sister Patrick Claire, as a member of the congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange between 1957 and 1978.

Ruth is survived by her brother Alfred, his wife Sharon, and many nieces and nephews.
