Obituary

Rose Marie Szlachta

Rose Marie Szlachta, née Viggiano, passed away on February 3, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born in South Philadelphia and lived in New Jersey before moving to Southern California in 2017 to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Rose Marie is survived by William, her beloved husband; daughter, Annette, and her husband, Mark; twin grandchildren, Gabrielle and Alec, who brought her joy, and their partners, Garrett and Brandon. She loved her family fiercely, as only an Italian mother and grandmother can. Ti vogliamo bene assai.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Visitation will begin at 9:50 a.m. Interment at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, CA, will immediately follow the funeral liturgy.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Laura’s House at laurashouse.org, or to the Human Rights Campaign at hrc.org.

Rose Marie always brought a smile to us, and on many occasions made me chuckle with her gentle teasing remarks.
We will miss her, as will anyone who had the good fortune to know her.
We are so thankful for the times we enjoyed with her and Bill.
    Rest in peace lady.
    Fondly, Russ and Pat Roegner

Rose Marie you will be greatly missed. I will truly miss the times we had in Wildwood. I will miss the nickname you decided to give me “Cocktail Janet” and all of you one liners. I’m just sorry I can’t be there to say goodbye. I plan in the near future to visit CA and will visit you. My condolences to Bill, your loving and caring husband and to your daughter Annette and her family. Rest in Peace, Rose Marie. Love Janet
