Obituary

Rose Marie Szlachta

Rose Marie Szlachta, née Viggiano, passed away on February 3, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born in South Philadelphia and lived in New Jersey before moving to Southern California in 2017 to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Rose Marie is survived by William, her beloved husband; daughter, Annette, and her husband, Mark; twin grandchildren, Gabrielle and Alec, who brought her joy, and their partners, Garrett and Brandon. She loved her family fiercely, as only an Italian mother and grandmother can. Ti vogliamo bene assai.

  1. Janet Rizzo says:

Rose Marie you will greatly be missed. I will truly miss the times we had in Wildwood. I will miss the nickname you decided to call me “Cocktail Janet” and all of you one liners. I’m just sorry I couldn’t be there to said goodbye to you, but I plan on taking a trip to CA in the near future to visit you. My condolence to your loving and caring husband Bill and to your daughter Annette and her family. Rest in Peace, Rose Marie. Love, Janet

  2. Janet Rizzo says:

Rest in Peace to my dear cousin Rose Marie. You will truly be missed.

  3. Rose Marie you will be greatly missed Loved all your expressions about the boat and will never forget the time you and I walked to Wildwood Crest Beach. Ken and I were so sad to hear of your recent months and know the angels in heaven will take great care of you. Your husband Bill did a great of loving and caring for you here. We had many great times together. Rest in Peace. Kenneth and Carol Ruckle

  4. I shall remember all the Resident Lunches at Legacy at Cape May that Rose Marie and Bill attended. She was a treat with her dry sense of humor. Many residents felt her absence from the moment she and Bill moved to be closer to family. God bless her always. Weill keep her and family in prayer.

  5. Dear Rose Marie: I hope you see from up there how much you will be missed. A true light has extinguished on earth but I am sure not in heaven. I will forever cherished the times with you and your wonderful, Bill.

I am smiling now as I remember the great one liners between you and Russ at fun places such as the “Momiji” restaurant. The banter between you two could have made a great segment on the late shows. Being able to make people smile and laugh is a great gift. Your love of family and friends is another that will be sorely missed.

Love you girl! Hope the angels have you wrapped in warm and loving care. Pat Ford Roegner
