Obituary

Rose Meline Van Dyke, 91, of San Juan Capistrano, California, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, died on July 26, 2013. She was born on September 23, 1922 in Izmit, Turkey to Mariam Bibiam and Dr. Bibiam.

Rose grew up and spent her childhood in Marseille, France in an orphanage where her mother taught school. Rose immigrated to southern Illinois in 1939 to be with her family, before settling in Southern California. She became involved in a variety of professional endeavors, including real estate, accounting, and stock investment. She married Maynard Van Dyke in 1957. She dedicated the latter part of her life to volunteer service with the Peace Corps in Niger, Africa, where she taught English and created programs for young women.

She enjoyed cooking, volunteering, gardening, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and collecting rare stamps and coins.

Rose is survived by her son Gregory Van Dyke, and her three granddaughters Stephanie Van Dyke, Elizabeth Van Dyke, and Colette Van Dyke.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 6th at Los Angeles National Cemetery.
