Obituary

Robert (‘Bobby’) Zaiden Corrado, was born February 1, 1945 in Staten Island, NY and passed away unexpectedly July 12, 2017 at home in Mission Viejo, CA.

Bobby earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1966 from Loyola Marymount University and his law degree in 1969 from the University of San Diego.

He worked from 1969 to 1985 for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He ran his own criminal defense practice from 1985 through 2014. During that time, he also authored a textbook on death penalty defense as well as teaching trial tactics as an adjunct professor. If you had a chance to meet him, he was a force to be reckoned with.

He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 40 years, Diana Corrado; his loving daughter Catherine R. Corrado-Hight and her husband Robert Hight; his sister Leslie Tennyson and her husband John; as well as a host of adoring friends.

Bob was always my friend. We started out playing baseball together he was always full of energy. He brought stories to life and sometimes they even grew a little. He always had a smile and a hand shake or hug for everyone. I will miss talking to him he was like everyone’s big brother. I am sure I never heard him say no when someone asked for his help. It is still hard for me to think abut him gone. There is a big empty spot in my life which he always filled with his laughter and story telling. We had so many common experiences and he could always make you feel better about things in your life that didn’t go well.

Bob, I will miss you buddy.

  2. Bob and I were in the same class at Univ San Diego School of Law. We were opponents for first year class president, which I won. Bob was very gracious in defeat and the experience made us friends for the next 3 years of law school. Bob was popular, funny, and very nice to everyone. Something his family probably doesn’t know: Bob called himself, “The Lion of Beruit” and he carried an exotic black cane with a silver plated lion’s head on some days. I think he stopped doing that after the first year of law school. I’m sure Bob will be missed.

  3. Diana, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Bobby’s passing. I had great admiration for Bob. We did a very difficult case against each other years ago, and became close friends thereafter. This is a testament to his fairness and ethics. Whenever I had an OC question he would be there for me. I’m sorry we didn’t stay in touch more often. I will miss him greatly. Brad Brunon

  4. Diana and Katie:

My heart weeps for you. I only learned today that Bobby was gone and am still shocked. I remember so many good times and so many kind things you and Bobby did for me. When Ray died Bobby was there for me and gave me so much support. He helped me to cope with the loss and the pain by just listening and reminding me of the wonderful memories I would have of Ray and our life together.

He absolutely adored the two of you and it showed constantly. He was so proud of the two of you and could never say enough good things about your life together. I am so proud that he was my friend and I have an empty spot in my heart now.

I am sure Bobby is watching over you and you have those memories of a wonderful father and husband to look back on.

Bobby was one of the most caring and kindest people I know as well as an incredible attorney who cared deeply about his profession and the people he represented. He was a very special person and I am so honored to have known him and called him my friend.

I wish you love and peace.
