I have known Robert since we were in Vietnam together in 1971. We were both barely 21.
We witnessed a lot of horrible things together, but then he was still able to make us laugh!
I believe he helped us from being consumed by the misery of war. He was truly a gift from God!
Robert received a shrapnel injury early on but was overlooked for receiving the Purple Heart.
That was unfortunate as he was a hero in many ways.
I used to fly out from the East Coast each December to see him on his birthday.
He loved the chocolate cheesecake!
Who would have guessed that his old army buddy, years later, would be there washing his face afterwards?
Robert will be missed by all those lives he has touched during his 69 years!
