IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Moncur
January 7, 1938 – January 26, 2026
Robert Leonard Moncur, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Mission Viejo, CA, at the age of 88. Born on January 7, 1938, in Salt Lake City, UT, Bob was a man whose life was defined by faith, family, and a commitment to service.
Bob’s early life was marked by his education at Eagle Rock High School, where he graduated in 1956. His commitment to service was evident early on, as he joined the California National Guard before being drafted into the Army in August 1960. He served as a Transportation Movement Specialist with the 97th Transportation Company in La Rochelle, France, and earned recognitions including the Marksman Carbine and Good Conduct Medal.
Professionally, Bob embarked on a career in the air cargo industry while still in high school and dedicated 45 years to this field. He worked his way up to become the Manager of Accounts Payable at Burlington Air Express, where he managed multi-million dollar accounts with humility, often simply referring to himself as an “accountant.”
A devout follower of Christ, Bob was a longstanding member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Mission Lake Ward, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions.
Bob was also known for his diverse interests and hobbies. He was passionate about classic cars, music, and films, particularly those from the 1940s to the 1960s. His love for travel was unmatched, having visited all fifty states and numerous countries. His collection of over 50,000 postcards was a testament to his journeys and the stories he gathered along the way.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Grant Moncur and Ola Davis Riggs; his wife, Marion Moncur; his son, Donald Moncur; and grandsons, John Barcellano and Michael Moncur. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Moncur and Susan Moncur-Mackay; siblings, Marlene Russell, Carol Herrmann, and Paul Moncur; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, with another on the way, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 7 pm to 9 pm at O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9 am to 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Bob’s life was a beacon of love, service, and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
