  1. I will forever cherish so many wonderful memories I have of my Uncle Bob. Growing up as “The Kellys” of Syosset, our summers in East Quogue…I will miss him terribly. Love, Kathy xo

  2. Mark Haworth says:

Dear Family. We Haworth’s cannot forget the special relationship which we have for all these years. From first meeting each other in 1959 until now we have held you and Bob as dear members of our lives. The stories and memories are endless. We are all facing these times but carry great strength in knowing where we will be. Were Jack and Lorraine still with us they would certainly send you love and prayers. As we go forward you have tremendous support and love from Mark, Diane, Christa and David. You are and always have been blessed with such a rich family bond and faith all started with the consistent and ever faithful example set by our/your Dad. He is proud to have raised each of you to who you are. I am honored to have known Bob and to have learned early lessons of life from him.
    Sincerely and with love,
    Mark

  3. Dear Kelly Family,
I send my love and prayers as you gather to honor the life of your dear husband and father, Bob. Forty years ago, Bob and Mary willingly became my surrogate parents for a period of months so that I could stay with your family and delay my senior year move to California. It was an act of supreme generosity to take on an extra teenager, which says a lot about the Kelly family. I will always remember Bob as a hard working, devoted family man who always kept tabs on what his kids were up to and kept his sense of humor through it all. His and Mary’s friendship with Jack and Lorraine was a special relationship. Knowing what I know now about parenthood, I can imagine how they must have laughed, commiserated and supported one another over the years in raising their children. Last year I made a trip to NYC to visit my son, Daniel, who is currently living there. We made a pilgrimage out to Syosset one day and visited the old neighborhood. As I walked past the old Kelly homestead I gave grateful thanks for the wonderful family that opened their arms to me and my family so many years ago. Bob, Mary, Sue, Rob, Laura and Maddy . . . you will always be in my heart. May you be comforted in knowing that Bob’s life made a positive difference in the lives of so many others.

    With much love and affection,
    Diane

  4. Dear Mary, Rob, Susan, Laura and Maddie: We have had you in our prayers. We know that you are saddened by Bob’s passing yet we know that as faithful Christians you are especially close to our Lord during this time.

Here is a beautiful quotation concerning death and immortality that you may find sustaining:

It is the falling star that trails light after it.
It is the breaking wave, so powerful.
It is the passing shower that lets the rainbow appear.

We love you, one and all…and Sue, we are prayerfuly supporting Phoebe so that she may do well in her upcoming nursing exams.

  5. Hi there Rob Sue Laura & Maddie….Mary too of course. It does not seem fair, we have to watch our parents go through this transition called “aging”. From a time when they were young, strong vibrant people who took such great care of us, doing their best to meet our many needs. From babies through adulthood they are always there. Then on to a time when they depend on others to meet their simply daily needs. You guys were amazingly committed to your dad’s well being these last few difficult years. You set a high mark for all kids to achieve when the day comes to help our own parents. I know you all have vivid memories of growing up with your dad, many wonderful memories, along with some difficult ones as well. All of those memories combined make up the good stuff that life is all about. And now you have come to the end of your lives with your dad and husband here on earth. The cycle is complete.

Now you have to believe and confess that your dad and husband is in the loving hands and care of our heavenly father, no better place could any of us ever be, and in that you must take comfort and move on…..hopefully to California where we can all be closerhad to toss that in. Finally let me say before Steve gets a chance….your dad was one Kool Kat Daddy-O!

God Bless you all, and remember even in this most difficult time to look up, for our redemption is drawing near.

    Love and Hugs to all,

    Skip Cressman
