Obituary

Robert Kendell Burch
4/26/1925 – 5/29/2014

WWII Veteran. Bob was born in Hollywood California, the son of professional musicians Claude and Viola. He interrupted his education at Loyola High to enter the US Navy, later serving in the Air Force. It was during his tour in the Navy that he met the love of his love, Joan Francis. They married in June 1946 and together lovingly reared daughter Michele and sons Patrick, Timothy, Kevin and Shawn. She preceded him in death and has been busy preparing their new home together in heaven for the past year. Their family includes 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to enjoying the beach he was quite active volunteering at Saint Timothy’s Catholic Church. This included singing in the choir for over 20 years. He also authored several works including ‘Ridin’ High – A Fan Views The Big Band Years’, ‘Reflections of a Common Man’ and ‘Footprints-Robert Burch’.

Bob will be sorely missed by his family and many friends, but will be consoled in knowing that he is now with God and Joan.

Services will be at Noon on June 9th at Saint Timothy’s in Laguna Niguel.

Grandpapa, thank you for being such a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather. We appreciate how you always prioritized your family. You are a role model for consistency, stability, and hospitality. We are truly blessed to be part of the family you and Grandmama created. We will miss you so much.

My memories of Uncle Bob are of a benevolent, kind Adult. We didn’t spend enough time to get beyond that level relationship. I was way more into my cousins at the time. Aunt Joan had a laugh I still remember. I bet he had some great stories to tell, and I hope someone has records of some of them… I regret that I didn’t know him better.

with my love, memories and affection to all the family, Brad Francis

  3. Dear Uncle Bob, you have blessed us all for many years with your love, kindness and gentle ways, and for bringing the family together. My heart goes out to the family for the tremendous loss of both you and Joan. I miss you both. Peace, Love, and Serenity

    Hi Dad,

I just wanted to check in with you and Mom and let you know our home is decorated way beyond anything we have done before-in your honor of course! We know how much you both loved this time of the year and how Mom always wanted Pam to show her what new decorations we had. The train is running and the bells are ringing. The only thing that is missing is you! Wish you both were here.

    Love,

    Shawn and Pam
