Obituary

Robert Juan Morris
September 19, 1956 – May 7, 2023

On May 7, 2023, Robert J. Morris (Bob, Bobby)–beloved husband, father, friend and colleague, passed away suddenly in his home at the age of 66. Bob was a devout and faithful Catholic and a member of San Francisco Solano Parish in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA for nearly 30 years. Bob was a Fourth Degree Knight and founding member of the Knights of Columbus Council 16488. Bob was a loyal and loving patriarch to his family, well known for his gigantic heart, unwavering patience, crisp sense of humor, and easy-going demeanor.

Bob was born in Richmond Virginia and spent his childhood in a blended family where his cousins became his sister and brother, and aunt, his mother. Due to his mother’s (Susie Ross) declining health, he was raised by his mother’s sister, Barbara Ross with her children, Donna Samuels and Butch Berry, who together, were inseparable troublemakers. Oh, the stories they could tell!

As a young man, Bob took astounding pride in his service to our country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps (1980-1984). Following his honorable discharge, he began working with Genigraphics Corporation where he met and married Patricia (Patty) Czwakiel. They settled down in Orange County, California where his two beautiful daughters were born.

Family meant everything to Bob and he never shied away from making everyone feel like they were a part of his. Bob was always there to lift up his loved ones when they needed it the most.

Regardless where he went in his career, from his days servicing computer graphics equipment (Genigraphics) to selling cars (Toyota of RSM, Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge of Foothill Ranch) to integrating women’s health technology into hospitals and medical offices (Hologic), he developed undeniable admiration from every person in his path—from coworkers to customers or throughout the organization.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of remarkably determined and successful women: Patty, his loving wife of 33 years, a stalwart in her own right and pillar in her Catholic faith community, eldest daughter, Mariah (30), a career—AAA video game producer leading and empowering her teams with her dad’s overwhelming passion for gaming—all with her phenomenal fiancé, Sam Clawson-Simons, by her side, and youngest daughter, Naomi (28), a pediatric cardiac sonographer—keeping the Morris name alive in the medical equipment field. He is also survived by his sister Donna and brother Butch, the first people to really know Bob, as a giant among men. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, colleagues, fellow-gamers, and Marine Corps buddies, all who will miss him each and every day.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. Bob trained me for my job with Hologic and will miss him. He was a kind and compassionate man that made an impact on my life. I was lucky to know him.

Patty, I’ll never forget how happy you were when you and Bob finally met in person after spending so much time becoming friends over the phone as your mutual companies intertwined your paths. It was heaven-sent, you two coming together as one.

My heart breaks for you and the girls that you’ve lost Bob. I know similar pain after losing Chuck. I love Bob for being by your side for so many years as a loving husband, confidante, inspirer to you and father to two brilliant young women. My arms are around you all, holding you in peace and with loving, soothing prayers for your ongoing journey. Love you!!! xoxoxo
