Robert John Horrick
July 25, 1947 – August 3, 2024
Robert John Horrick was born on July 25th, 1947, to Oliver and Frances Horrick in Camanche, Iowa. After graduating high school, Robert joined the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1969 in Southern California and started working as a bartender at Zeb’s Boathouse while attending college.
Robert met the love of his life, Jackie, at California State University, Long Beach. He graduated summa cum laude from Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration majoring in accounting. He started his career at Arthur Andersen in Orange County and became a CPA. Robert and Jackie were married in 1975, settled down in Irvine, CA, and had three beautiful daughters, Sharen, Stephanie and Robyn. For much of his career, he worked as VP and Chief Financial Officer of Beylik Drilling, retiring in 2022.
Above anything else, Robert was a family man. His love and pride for his family was beyond measure. He was the patriarch of the family, ensuring that the entire extended family which expanded across the country remained close and bonded through the years. He spearheaded the large family reunions, “The Compound Invitational,” which was an annual favorite for the family for many years. He loved his entire family dearly.
On August 3rd, 2024 he succumbed to his four year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He is survived by his loving wife, his three daughters, and his four grandchildren, Ryenn, Jaxson, Brooklyn and Blake. He was an amazing husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and a proud Marine. Robert will be forever loved and endlessly missed.

Dear Jackie, girls and family, Dolores and I are very sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. Boy, when I heard of it from Bob B a well of emotions and memory’s came up. You knew him better than anyone but these are somethings I’d like to share with you. One of my memories while working with Bob was that he was so honest and directly to the point. No wavering without consulting Bob B. We used to have a few heated discussions and he’d tell me “I” was too combative. Oh boy, that would get my dander up. I’d let him know the same thing and we’d have another round of discussions. 😀 Once I told him that he’s living in a box and he blurted out, “If I don’t live in a box, they’ll throw me in a box!” He was so funny.
He loved you, your girls and grand kids so much. We could talk about each of our own experiences with prostate cancer and removals. He helped me through mine and I wasn’t so scared. He was very compassionate to me anlways. Our middle child Michelle is blind so we’d talk about living with a blind family member. Although his brother was blind and our daughter was, we still had a close connection because of that.
I’m sure there won’t be a day you will not think of him, but know that Dolores and I are praying for you, Sharon, Stephanie and Robyn. God bless you all. Bill and Dolores

I am very, very sad to learn of the passing of Bob. He and his wife, Jackie, were my study buddies when we attended CSULB. He was so smart. He learned the accounting material in half the time of the rest of us. He had a great sense of humor. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you. Rest in peace my dear friend. My sincere condolences to Jackie and his three daughters and their families.
