Robert “Bob” Fowler

Robert “Bob” John Fowler, 76, of San Clemente California, passed away on November 2, 2023. Bob was born on February 9, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey, and moved to Dana Point, California 45 years ago with his wife Susan where they planted roots and started a family to include their 4 children. He was a charismatic and humorous man, known for his big heart and Jersey accent.

Bob dedicated his life to serving his veteran brothers and their families, as well as others in his community. He was a proud Army veteran, having served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. In his later years, Bob had the opportunity to serve as post commander for Dana Point VFW Post 9934 where he was nationally recognized for his community involvement. Bob’s passion for serving others extended beyond his military service. He worked as a district manager in sales for over two decades, successfully achieving company goals.

In his free time, Bob was a talented cook and loved to BBQ for friends and family. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his children in the 90s and cherished being a grandfather to his daughter Megan’s child and daughter Erin’s fur babies. Bob also enjoyed spending summers in Carmel/Monterey and visiting his sister Matilda, nieces Carolyn, Elyse, Frances, and nephew John in New Jersey.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Susan, his children Megan Kate Merid, Erin Colleen Fowler, and Sean Robert Fowler, son-in-law Jim Merid, and granddaughter Faven Malone Merid. He is also survived by his sister Matilda DeSena, nieces Carolyn, Elyse, Frances, nephew John and great nieces Erin, Lauren, Morgan, Gianna, Ava, and great nephew John. Bob’s fur family, Stella, Poppins, and Linus, were also an important part of his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his son Colin Michael Fowler, father Charles Fowler, mother Dorothy Fowler, and brother Richard Fowler.

A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Veteran’s Memorial at Strands Vista Park, 34109 Selva Rd, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States. A repast will follow the service at 2:30 pm at Jack’s Restaurant, 24452 Del Prado Ave, Dana Point, CA 92629, United States.

The O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of service and compassion will forever be remembered.
