IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Jansing
August 25, 1960 – January 25, 2026
Memorial Service
O'Connor Mortuary
Starts at 2:00 pm
Robert Leo Jansing passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 65 years old on January 25th, 2026.
Robert was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 25th, 1960 to his mother Mary Jansing, and late father Leo Jansing. Robert spent the majority of his professional life serving the United States government first in the United States Air Force, and later at the United States Park Police in San Francisco where he met his late wife Gale Jansing and went on to raise two sons, Andrew and Matthew Jansing.
Robert was an exceedingly proud & dedicated public servant, renowned by colleagues for his dedication to fitness, mastery of his craft (including in-depth knowledge of penal codes), and real impact on the world around him. Among many career accolades, Robert's quick thinking notably led to the 1995 capture of an armed & dangerous fugitive then listed on the FBI's Most Wanted list, saving the people of San Francisco from impending harm.
Robert loved to travel and in the last decade of his life visited six different continents with an emphasis on scuba diving and his love of nature. Among other travels, Robert most notably enjoyed visiting the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Athens in Greece, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and traveling to see his favorite artist Taylor Swift in Munich.
Robert enjoyed spending significant time together & all holidays in recent years with his closest family of Andrew, Matthew, and Taylor, who will miss him tremendously. Following Robert's retirement in 2016, Robert took full advantage of the gift of time in his final years to live a fulfilling and happy life, both in his travels and in time together with his family.
Robert is survived by his mother Mary, his siblings Nick, Lisa, and Tony, his son Andrew Jansing, his son Matthew Jansing, and his daughter-in-law Taylor Jansing (wife of Matthew), as well as his two cats Lucas and Valerie whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his many friends and colleagues from his many years with the United States Park Police. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Gale and father Leo Jansing.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes optional donations in honor of his memory to any of the following charitable organizations:
Hearts Alive Village, a Las Vegas based non-profit animal rescue organization Robert was fond of, and Valerie's place of adoption.
Orange County Animal Rescue Coalition (OC-ARC), an Orange County-based non-profit animal rescue organization Robert was fond of, and Lucas's place of adoption.
Friends of Red Rock Canyon, a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Robert resided close by Red Rock and thoroughly enjoyed connecting with nature in his visits here, including two cherished visits in the final month of his life.
A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held at O'Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, California, on Friday April 10th at 2:00 PM. Robert will be subsequently laid to rest at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, California, next to his father Leo.
