Obituary

Bob was born in Chicago, Illnois to Charles and Antoinette Parelli. He went to Kelly H.S. in Illnois, and graduated from Coronado H.S. in Scottsdale, Az. It was here where he met Charne’ Thompson. They met on a blind date, and as mom tells us, ??been together ever since??.They married in 1968 and moved to Los Alamitos, California. He joined the Marine Reserves and was an orderly at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach. He really enjoyed working and being in the hospital setting and entered the x-ray program at St. Mary’s.

In 1971, they had their son, Joe, and in 1974, welcomed their daughter, Dawne’. After graduating from the program, he worked at Los Alamitos Hospital while continuing his education and receiving his masters degree at Long Beach State.
In 1978, the family moved to Lake Forest, California, became a professor at Cypress College and was the director of the Radiologic Technology program. He loved his job and enjoyed teaching. He was an animated and enthusiastic professor that made x-ray physics bearable and interesting. When going to work, he would often say, ?I am going to feed the plants??

He was a husband, father, grandfather, director, professor, and a published author of technical books, workbooks, and laboratory manuals.

All of these accomplishments pales in comparison to his true love and that is his family. He loved being around them and spending quality time with them. Family vacations, lazy days at the pool with his grandkids, countless gatherings for dinner?

Finally, the sweetest of all memories, is the day he accepted Jesus as his savior! In December 8, 2008, he and Charne’ were baptized at MVCC. Every morning he dedicated his time to feast on the Word of God. He knew what awaited him and that is why his last words were ? I am not afraid.? This is where we find our comfort. Knowing that one day we will see him again in heaven when He calls us home.

  1. Charne,
I was shocked to hear of Bob’s passing, My sincere condolences to you and the entire family….Bob was a special person. I have so many fond memories, too many too mention. He was one of the best chippers and putters I ever saw, lost lots to Bob on many occasssions, and what a Gin Player he was, the best.
I will truely miss Bob and was honored to know him as my friend.

  2. All of the “dew sweeps” will miss Bob’s smiling face at dawn at San Juan Golf Course. Now he gets to play on a much better course. St. Peter will doubt be his caddy. God Bless you and your family.

I am in Scotsdale Az, so far away, in place and time. But so near in my heart and my prayers. God bless you all.

I am so sorry for your families loss. Professor Parelli was an excellent teacher that helped me understand the many facets of radiology. Although I have known him for such a short time, I feel as though he has impacted my life as a radiology student. May he rest in peace and hope that he is doing well up in heaven.
