Obituary

Robert Lewis Heerdt passed away on April 17, 2024 in Laguna Hills, California.

Bob was born July 12, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Lewis Heerdt and Amy Watson Cook. While his parents separated at a young age, Bob enjoyed growing up in Southern California and, for a time, in Wyoming. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Los Angeles before attending his beloved University of Southern California, where he was on the swim team and the water polo team. He graduated from Denver University with a B.S. in Accounting. Upon graduation, he joined his father forming the Heerdt & Heerdt accountancy practice.

Bob was an avid sportsman enjoying archery, fishing, boating, skiing, and motorcycle riding. His love of fishing led him to leave his accounting practice to form the Oso Fishing Association to promote bass fishing and teach many hundreds of young people to fish. He left the reservoir to become an incredibly successful grandfather.

He is survived by his two twin sons, Kevin and Keith (born on his birthday, July 12, 1958), and his lovely daughter Linda Eyre, nee Heerdt (born on the following year’s Father’s Day). He had one son, Martin Michael Heerdt who preceded him in death. Through his children, Bob was blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bob’s Memorial will be held at Trabuco Canyon Community Church (30121 Canyon Creek Dr, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679) at 11:00 am on Saturday May 4, 2024.

Donations to Bob’s memory should be directed to The Bob Heerdt Memorial Scholarship Fund care of the Rotary Club of Rancho Santa Margarita – Coto De Caza.
