Obituary

Rest in Peace, Bob

There are indeed some decent men among us,
Almost a throwback to a far more gentle time.

At first glance they seem quiet, almost reserved,
But then you look closer.
You see how comfortable they are with themselves,
A painting much brighter than you first imagined!

A wit and kindness that is more than clear,
No need to be bold or brash,
Just a unique ability to listen,
To be there when most needed,
To offer a smile that brightened our day.

He’d smile at us,
Enjoying and understanding one’s act.
His wit and wisdom as smooth as can be,
Bob let you know he was listening,
That he understood the concept of we.

You didn’t want to intrude upon this soul,
His life seemed so complete.
Bob’s uniqueness was so special,
You didn’t want to compete.

He’d tease you when he said goodbye,
As if to say, you’re all finished now,
Bob heard you and smiled and went on his way.

He said so much with so few words.
Bob was blessed to have found the love of his life!
He was comfortable in his skin,
Appreciated so much by Monica and all who loved him!

There is no question that the good amongst us leaves too soon.
This fine man’s PRESENCE left a mark that will be remembered
By all who knew him!
Bob was blessed to have YOU by his side!

Thank you for everything you have done for OCW, Bob. Jürgen & I are lucky to have known you, and thank you for being there, riding slowly with me when I was a newbie. We will miss you tremendously and we will have the beers we kept talking about it one day.

    RIP my dear friend.

Bob was a kind and patient man. He taught me how to drive and explained Dr. Who and time travel to me. He encouraged me to read sci-fi and I have never stopped. He was a calm and steady presence when I was a teenager. He was a wonderful uncle to my daughter when she was young. She was born in his birthday and Uncle Bob was one of the first things she said. I am so glad they kept in contact through Facebook over the years. Rest in Peace, Bob

    Bob,
As a new rider you taught me how to ride safely and what the laws were always making sure we were as safe as we could be, fixing my flats when I did not have the finger strength and not dropping me. You always had a kind word, smile and encouragement. You made an impact on my life and there will be a hole there forever. Thank you for being a compassionate human, you will be missed. Prayer for Monica and those who are missing you.
    Myra

And your were a remarkable cousin as well. Thanks so much for bringing Monica during your visit and then your second visit not nearly so long ago.

  5. Elliott Bubis says:

Bob always welcomed me to OCW rides, even among the hubbub of many riders signing in. His memory will inspire me to do my best towards others. Deepest condolences to Monica, herself a generous leader at BCI and OCW.
