Robert Gene Hansen, 81, was born on November 26, 1927 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away on October 1, 2009 in Lake Forest, CA. Bob has been a resident of Lake Forest since he and his family moved out to Orange County in August of 1965. For 30 years, Bob worked as a firefighter for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. After retirement, he invested his time into his family, his hobbies and household construction projects. In 1979, he began building his dream house in Southern Utah. His project soon became a vacation home that he and his family have enjoyed for over 20 years.
Bob was a family man and sports fanatic whose passion for football never left after his years as a star player at Franklin High School. After graduation, Bob followed his patriotic spirit and desire for excitement by serving our country in the 82nd Airborne Infantry in World War II. Bob is remembered by his friends and family as a man with an enduring enthusiasm for life, a lover of adventure and the outdoors, and a friendly spirit who could carry on a conversation with anyone from a good friend to a complete stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alberta Hansen, his two daughters Elizabeth and Diane, and his nine grandchildren, Sarah, Robert, Timothy, James, Richard, Benjamin, Dane, Jeffrey and Jennifer.
Bob’s service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. in El Toro Memorial Park, located at 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
