Obituary
Robert B. Wallace, P.E., of Aliso Viejo, California, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 75, after a distinguished engineering career spanning nearly five decades. Born to loving parents Robert C. and Dorothy in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, Bob earned his MEng in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Ottawa and an MBA from the University of Alberta. As an engineer, mentor, and internationally recognized expert in solid waste and containment systems, Bob built a remarkable professional life across the United States and around the world. He was a global authority in landfill design and geosynthetics; his work influenced complex projects worldwide and helped shape modern engineering standards through decades of service with ASTM International. Bob also loved sharing his knowledge, as an instructor at UCLA Extension and mentoring countless others throughout his career. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was known for his sharp wit, kindness, and generosity. He loved golf and travel, followed the Seattle Mariners with enthusiasm, and delighted friends with his famous roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, Tracy, to whom he was happily married for twenty-four years. He is also survived by his sibling, Lynne Wallace, of Toronto. He will be remembered for both his professional excellence and the warmth and friendship he brought to so many lives.
