I’ll always remember Dick hugging Corky and saying “I love you”. Corky was always uncomfortable with men hugging him, but Dick could do it and Corky would say “I love you too”. Dick was the only one Corky would let do this – no one else.
We always looked forward to his guitar playing and his lovely voice on our houseboat. Lots of good memories. Now he’s singing with Corky in heaven.
God bless him!!!

Granpa,
Thank you for inviting me in and accepting me as family, from the start almost 12 years ago. All the smiling, laughing and fun are the memories I have from the past, and the sweet hugs and kind words are my cherished memories from more recent times. The past few days have been the most painful of my entire life, but even after leaving us, you remain the firm patriarch by helping to pull us together as a family as we mourn you.
Get-togethers and holidays will be different, but I know the music will always go on with Dave, Phil, Duane and Mike trying to fill your enormous shoes.
I have only one regret and that is that Phil and I did not have your great grandkids in time to meet you. I am most grateful to have been given the best Christmas gift this year 2010, which was a return to a loud, lively, continuing into the wee hours of the night, Hultin celebration.
Thank you for hawaiian shirts, lunches at Tortilla Flats, church followed by breakfast at Madison, the perfectly on key “Happy Birthday” renditions, your generosity, your pure heart and your unforgettable smile. You will always be in my heart.
Love,
Jessica the granddaughter-in-law

Dick, to us you personified JOY – Jesus, Others, You.
You were an awesome musician, yet you welcomed and gently encouraged musicians of all abilities to join you. This helped many of us come out of our shells.
As a friend, you were gentle and generous. You were an excellent listener and made whomever you were speaking to feel important. You were quick to offer help, be it moving furniture or letting us use your sound studio. You showed us your wonderful sense of humor, as you delighted many rectoras by pretending to be their husbands with flowers at Clausura. Agape will never be the same. Your music was a love offering, not just a performance. You made us chuckle with your,”Boy, we’re hot today, Father,” as you mopped your brow with your handkerchief.
Dick, we know you are now part of Jesus’ band having fun jamming with Gaston, George and others. We will miss you greatly. Thank you for so many wonderful memories.

My Uncle Dick was a great guy, thinking about him makes me happy–he smiled a lot and spread smiles to those around him. I’ll bet everybody around him enjoyed a happier life from his presence. His enthusiasm is something to be admired and continued, I know his spirit will live on in many.
