Obituary
Richard Patrick Olson, 75 of Laguna Hills, California was born March 17, 1947, in Brainard, Minnesota, and passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in Laguna Hills, California.
He served in the Army from November 1965 to August 1968, and then in the Air Force from October 1973 to August 1976.
Prior to moving to California, he served as a Police Officer in Springfield, Oregon. He began work at Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach, CA in 1996 and retired as Director of Security in 2016.
He served as an Orange County Reserve Deputy Sheriff starting in 2001 and retired as Captain in 2015.
He is survived by his wife Van-Kieu Che Olson, his son, Bradly Olson, his daughters, Kristin McGuinness (Adam Vasquez) and Ellen Nguyen, his sister, Ingrid Olson, three grandchildren, Katie Rowen (Jake Rowen), Declan Vasquez and Cullen Vasquez, and three great-grandchildren, Maycee, Jace, and Kellee Rowen.
He was dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.
A Graveside Service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11am.

A good man gone too soon. Never had a conversation that I didn’t feel better for it. It might seem like a small thing, but my dog Sake adored Rick – never passed his open garage door without stretching the leash trying to get to him. Animals know those good souls among us. Till we all meet again my friend.
