Richard was my friend in high school, I will never forget him. He was so much fun; always smiling and laughing. He, Steven Cash and Bobby Block would joke around and entertain everyone. He will truly be missed.
I have a poem to share with Richard’s parents, it comforted my dear friend with the recent loss of her son and I hope it can do the same for you.
God said; “I’ll lend you my child…”
I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine, He said…
For you to love while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two and three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you. And shall his stay be brief;
you’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from Earth return.
But there are lessons, taught down there, I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you.
Now, will you give him all your love and not think the labor in vain?
Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again?
I fancied that I heard you say; “Dear Lord, it will be done!
For all the joy Your Child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness. We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned,
we’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.”

I’m so sorry for your loss, Steven loved jumping at the Ostrich jumps with Richard on thier bikes. I have video of them jumping there that Steven took somewhere. They could never get enough chocolate pudding….I’m sorry for that, I think that was my fault, loved chocolate pudding. Although I don’t live in Lake Elsinore anymore, I have the fondest memories of all the neighborhood kids, Richard included. My thoughts are with you.

Kim,Jim,Amanda and Alex:
Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We are here if you need us.
