Richard James "Dick" McDonald
May 26, 1931 – January 18, 2024

Dick McDonald, 92, of San Juan Capistrano, California, passed away on January 18, 2024.

Dick was Born on May 26, 1931 to Joseph and Margaret McDonald in the city of Boston, Mass. He was the third of six children. After graduating from Cambridge High and Latin in 1948 he worked a variety of jobs for a couple of years. In March 1950 he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served as a weatherman on an aircraft carrier until January 1954.

A few years after leaving the Navy he met and married his wife Virginia "Ginger" in 1957. Together they moved to California in September 1959. Dick started his carrier at State Farm Insurance that same month and stayed with them until his retirement in May 1993.

After retirement Dick and Ginger enjoyed traveling with good friends through the US and Canada in their RV. They were able to travel to every mainland state and loved visiting with many friends and family scattered throughout the country.

Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years Ginger McDonald, his daughter Diane Warshaw, his sons Richard "Rick" McDonald and David "Dave" McDonald, son in law Bill Warshaw, daughters in law Karen McDonald and Terri McDonald, his grandchildren Daniel McDonald, Stephanie Harms, Hannah Mee, Justin Barnes, Jack McDonald, Brandon McDonald and Andrew McDonald, his great grandchildren Clayton McDonald and Iris McDonald, Sullivan Mee and Helena Mee, his brother Charles McDonald and sister Ruthie Stanizzi.

Visitation on Monday February 5 from 2 – 4pm

Burial on Tuesday following service at 2:15pm Riverside National Cemetery.
