Richard L. Carr, 78, of Irvine, California, died peacefully in his sleep on November 1, 2013, following a lengthy illness.

After a long and successful automotive executive career primarily in Ohio and Michigan and with the children grown, Dick and his wife, Pat, returned to southern California to do part-time consulting and to enjoy the rich civic and social life of Orange County. He was particularly proud of his membership and participation in the many activities of the Newport Beach/Corona del Mar Kiwanis Club; few things gave him more pleasure than a meal and theater attendance with any one of a number of close friends.

Dick took great pride in the successes and achievements of his daughter, Cynthia; sons, Richard, Frank, Daniel, Greg and David; and his grandchildren, Richard, Simon, Rachel, Benjamin, Wyatt and Stephen, all of whom survive him in addition to his wife.

O'Connor Mortuary is conducting the cremation and return of his remains to Ohio. Friends may express their condolences by donation in Richard's name to the charity of their choice, the Kiwanis International Foundation or Autism Speaks.
