Obituary

Richard Allen Brown, known as "Rich" to his friends and family, passed away on 19 March 2026, at the age of 71. Born on 9 June 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee to Billy Joe and Martha Brown, Rich’s journey took him across the country and the world.

Rich served in the U.S. Army and during his deployment to South Korea met the love of his life, Song. Their meeting sparked a 49-year marriage. After his military service, Rich settled in California where he built a career in computers which included a commute between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore over the Ortega Highway (Highway 74) for 17 years. After several years in Northern California enjoying the wine and food in and around Napa Valley along with many visits to the Jelly Belly Factory; Rich & Song moved back to Southern California to be closer to family.

Rich was a quiet man with many hobbies, passions and interests. Whether he was ocean fishing, trying an abundance of new recipes, or seeking adrenaline through skydiving, motorcycling, or scuba diving, he consistently embraced life with enthusiasm. His favorite sports were football and basketball and he thoroughly enjoyed organizing a weekly fantasy football and March madness bracket to keep in touch with longtime friends. Rich also had a special place in his heart for the magic of Disney, TV and movies. Some of his favorites were Top Chef, Mash, and The Carol Burnett Show.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Song; his two daughters, Rosetta Jasperson (Brad) and Michelle; and cherished grandchildren, Reanna, Rilen, and Brynlee as well as his brother Jon, sister Angela and niece. He will be remembered for his sense of adventure, ordering appetizers, and unwavering love and pride for his family.

Richard's ashes were scattered at sea from the Clemente fishing boat outside Dana Point Harbor at 33.545556, -117.860278 on a beautiful Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
