Richard Miles
Allen
May 12, 1945 – June 14, 2014
Richard Miles Allen, born May 12, 1945 in Los Angeles, passed away unexpectedly June 14, 2014. Rich was the youngest son of Marion and Phyllis (ne Sorenson) Allen, and brother of Jeffrey Allen.
He attended Morningside High School in Inglewood graduating in 1963. After high school, he spent a year traveling through Europe in a VW bus and by motorcycle. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his education and received a Bachelors degree in Economics from Sacramento State University circa 1970.
Rich embraced life with both hands. He was quick to laugh and even quicker to forgive. His passions included cooking, motorcycles, tennis and staying fit. He was known for his loving kindness and wicked sense of humor. In 2005, he married the love of his life, Teri Fitzpatrick. Together they traveled the world visiting such places as Machu Pichu, the Great Wall of China, Tibet, Japan, Ireland, Paris and the Amazon. At home in Rancho Santa Margarita they often welcomed their large extended family and friends and also enjoyed their desert home in La Quinta California.
Rich's sons Mark (Wendy) and Madison (Mieke) have blessed the family with five grandchildren: Jake, Trevor, Bryce, Milyes and Mason. Richard was also stepfather to Lauren Younce and Avery Francis, as well as grandchildren Skyler and Marley.
In 1983, Rich became a successful entrepreneur founding Select Equipment Sales, Inc. in Buena Park, which is now operated by his sons.
