Obituary
Life has come full circle. On May 26, 2010, Reta Carol Cagle passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in the hospital in Mission Viejo among family and friends. Reta was born in Texas June 12, 1922 and excelled as an aerospace designer engineer, a female among mostly males, at Rockwell over 40 years. She was a loving sister, aunt and great friend. She will be sorely missed!
Memorial services will be held at O’Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills, CA on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. followed by enurnment at El Toro Memorial Park, Lake Forest, CA.

Reta lived with us on Sunnyside in the 1940s, became an Engineer and went to work For North American Aviation. She was always fun to be around. I have a lot of really nice memories from a long 60 years ago. She can now rest easy.

Dear Reta,
You”¢Ã€?ve been taken Home to be with your beloved Dickie, our Mom and Dad, and our big sister Fern.
No more anger, distrust. Fears, tears, dreds and frustrations. We are so sorry for any hurts and disappointments we”¢Ã€?ve brought to you and we hope you could forgive us! You”¢Ã€?ve felt respronsible for us since our childhood and we really do appreciate all the good you”¢Ã€?ve done for us and our families.
Reta was a dedicated Aerospace Engineer at North American Aviation where she helped engineer Project Apollo the Lunar Lander, and the Space Shuttle and Billy Mitchell”¢Ã€’s B-25 Bomber which hit Japan and the F-51 Fighter which help save England. She was truly an exceptional engineer and will be greatly missed. After Reta graduated from High School she was hired as an engineer by North American Aviation in Dallas, Texas during WW II. North American Aviation sent Reta to the University of Texas at Austin to become one of the few women engineers, she and Josephine Munster. After she learned engineering she reported for work at North American Aviation in Dallas. She roomed with our Aunt Irene and Aunt Irene”¢Ã€’s three boys, Billy, Jess, Freddy, and of course Grand Father Cyrus White, Reta”¢Ã€’s mother”¢Ã€’s and Aunt Irene”¢Ã€’s father.
After WW II ended she was transferred by North American Aviation to Los Angeles California. At that time I was in the US Navy and Reta still looked after me. I was inspired by her and followed her into engineering.
She was truly an exceptional engineer and will be greatly missed,
Please rest in peace Reta we will never forget and all you”¢Ã€?ve done to help shape our lives, your brother, sister, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
We pray for your eternal contentment and peace.

Dear Reta,
God has taken you home to be with your beloved “Dickie” and our Mom and Dad and sister Roberta Fern.
You were the king pin of our family and tried to keep your “clay pots” from cracks and in order as best you could. Even tho there were spits and spats along the way, the bond is strong and will always be! Thank you for being our big sister, sister -in-law, our aunt, and friend. We will miss you.
Now rest in peace, we’ll be fine knowing you are in safe hands.

You always took care of me and helped me along my life’s journey; baling me out of difficult situations since my childhood. You inspired me toward my aerospace engineering career for which I am eternally grateful! Thank you forever!
