Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, tata, brother, brother-in-law, tio, primo, compadre, nino, and friend, our Dad was a hard-working man who enjoyed taking the occasional trip to the casino, eating anything chocolate, watching his shows on television and spending time with his family and friends.

We will miss him terribly. His final battle with Leukemia was the last of many. We will always remember his wisdom and ability to comfort those around him.

Survived by his wife of 45 years, Maggie, their children and their families: Rene son, Donna, Christopher, Oscar son, Lisa, David, Grayson, Celena daughter, Clemente, Clemente, Vicente, Alex son, and Nichole. Predeceased by his brother Ruben, his father Julio, his mother Manuela and his brother-in-law George. Survived by his sisters, Virginia and Rosa and his sister-in-law Margaret.

Our Dad will also be missed by countless family members and friends.

We love you Viejo and Dad!

  1. Hi Daddy,

The boys and I recently watched a slide show of Vicente’s birth. We got to see your “crying face” in one of the pictures. I miss your hugs Daddy. The way you would pay my back to make me feel better.

I would’ve never guessed in a million years that you would’ve passed away the way you did. No one should ever have to suffer the way you did. I’m sorry that I didn’t fully comprehend what hospice meant. I feel stupid admitting that to you, but it’s true.

You taught me so much. You showed me what it was to have a strong work ethic. You worked so hard to provide for us. I only wish that you would’ve been more frugal and planned for the future. But then again, whose to say things would’ve turned out differently.

As I went through all of the papers after mom passed away, I realized how much I’d either forgotten or never knew about you. You were a gymnast? Were you also a pilot? What else did you do? I wish that I would’ve paid more attention when you shared your stories with me. I also found some cards that you had given to mom. You were such a romantic. No wonder why she fell in love with you!

One of my favorite memories of you was captured in a photo. You are wearing a white turtleneck shirt and you are on rollerskates. You are smiling from ear to ear – having a blast at my 30th birthday party (at a local roller rink).

That smile is what I think of when I think of you. I love you Daddy!

    Con mucho carino,
    Tu mijita Celena
