Rebecca Sue Morgan's Obituary

Rebecca Sue (Reiland) Morgan

Rebecca Sue Morgan (née Reiland), passed away peacefully March 27, 2022, at her home in Lake Forest CA, after an 18-month battle with colon cancer.  Becky was born on June 24, 1941, in Roswell, New Mexico, and was the oldest of two daughters born to Louis & Ouida Reiland.  The family later moved to Santa Fe where Becky attended elementary school and later graduated from Santa Fe High School.  She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and earned several scholastic and educational honor society memberships including Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, and Pi Lambda Theta.

Becky met her future husband, H.E. “Gene” Morgan, Jr., while at UCB and she graduated with honors in 1963 earning a Bachelor of Arts in English.  After graduation, she taught 9 th grade English in Santa Fe and then she and Gene were married there on December 28, 1963.  Due to Gene’s naval service, the couple traveled and lived in many places including Northern California, Idaho, Connecticut, South Carolina, Virginia, and finally Hawaii.  During this time, she and Gene became the proud parents of daughter, Kelly, and son, Mark.  Gene retired from the Navy in 1970 and the family moved to their home in Lake Forest.

In addition to being a wife and homemaker, Becky was heavily involved in church and community life.  She taught pre-school at the Lake Forest Beach & Tennis Club for several years and was an active member of the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of P.E.O., Beverly Sills and her local Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae group.

Becky & Gene enjoyed 45 wonderful years together prior to his death in 2009.  They loved travel and visited Europe, Canada, Russia and had annual trips to Palm Desert for the sun and to Utah for skiing.  Becky had season tickets to the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center and liked going to shows with friends and family.  She also loved gardening and could be found most mornings working in her back yard.   An avid card player, Becky enjoyed playing Bridge & Canasta with friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life her daughter Kelly Morgan and grandson Ryan Osborne; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Laura Morgan and grandsons Casey & Evan Morgan; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Ernie Lindig, many other family members and an array of lifelong friends.
