  1. I think everyone has said everything I wanted to say so I will keep this short and sweet.. I met Mr. Woods my freshmen year at Dana Hills High School as he tried successfully to recruit me into the choir…It did take several attempts. I have known him since I was 14 years old and had a wonderful opportunity to sing for him with the South Coast Singers for many years. Your family, friends, and everyone you have touched through your love of music will always remember you. You now live in our memories and dreams.

  2. Mr. Woods made all of us believe in ourselves during the age where we needed it most. He was graceful, loving and patient. My most favorite memories in high school took place in that music room sitting in his classes. He made me laugh and smile and that will always remain in my heart… sending love and light to his family during this time. You are all in my thoughts, my heart, and my prayers. Xo

  3. Uncle Ray I will do this one more time, just for you. When you walk into a room introduce yourself to everyone. When you shake a mans hand look him in the eye. When they tell you their name repeat it to show them you are listening. Every woman is a Miss and never a Mam. Treat every woman the way you would want your mother to be treated. There are just a few of the things he taught a shy young boy many years ago. I use his teachings ever day of my life. When I first met him I thought he was trying to teach me music. He wasn’t, he was trying to teach me to be the person he saw in me. Thank you Mr. Woods for everything.

  5. Holly Erwin says:

Mr. Woods taught me how to be myself, and not let anyone bring me down no matter what. He inspired me to continue to sing each and every day to brighten my days. A few months ago, I sat and reflected on the time he let me pick any song/sheet music for him to play for me and listen to me sing back in my sophomore year of high school. I remember him allowing me that moment of freedom and giving me tips that have stuck in my memory forever. May his soul rest knowing he did great things for so many of us.
