  1. Thank you Mr. Woods for a wonderful experience of choir and Music Theory. I am saddened by this news. It’s because of you that I have a love and passion for music. You believed in every single one of your students and I am so grateful for that. I will always remember you! You always told me you could not get mad at me because I had the “I can’t get mad at you card!” You saw great potential in me and I thank you for that! I will always have the greatest best happy memories of you. As tears are accumulating in my eyes and I am sad to see that you are gone, I am also happy because we all now have a wonderful guardian angel who will be proud of us and will be watching us all in our journeys.

  2. Ray, you were the spark that lit the candle each time South Coast Singers performed. Your talent and good humor always made Tuesday the very best day of my week. The Heavenly Choir will be so happy to have you. Rest well knowing how many lives you have touched.

How true, Gayle, how true. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you.

  3. Greer says:

Although Mr. Woods was never my teacher, he left a huge impact on me and my family. My older sister, Griffee, worked and learned from Woods for all four years of her high school career. He brought music into our home and created an environment at school that was unlike any other. His passion for music and joy of teacher made SOCSA such a beauitiful place and it won’t be the same without him.
You will be dearly missed by all.

  4. Kris Evans says:

I am so proud of my wonderful husband, Marc Degen, for resigning from the DHHS Teacher of the Year run-off so that Ray would win that title. Ray’s was a lifetime of devotion to music and to his students. Few teachers put in as many unpaid hours as he did. The number of students influenced by him cannot be tallied. He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace, dear Ray.

  5. Noelle says:

Mr. Woods- thank you for being one of the kindest, most genuine people that I have been blessed to have had in my life. You were a fabulous teacher and human being and will be missed by many who’s lives you touched and changed.
