Wow, what great memories of Coach Dodge. As a coach, he was hard nosed but fair, often laughed and had a smile on his face. He knew how to make you WANT to work hard and enjoy doing it.
After freshman football, I regularly visited with Coach Dodge at school, whenever I ran into him. Later, I had the pleasure of visiting with him at several of the Ernie & Liz Bayer get togethers & it was always good catching up.
Just a solid, standup, class act. He is one of the many men that I was fortunate to be around, to learn how to act & treat people with respect, how to work hard but enjoy doing it.
Thanks Coach! You will be missed.

I went to a few of my older brothers frosh summer football practices when I was in 6th grade, just to be around it. He acknowledged me during the first practice & put me to work- “hey, red, grab those balls & bring them over here.” “Hey red, can you bring me those cones?”He didn’t need my help, he was just making me feel important.

Thanks for being such a great man, Coach Dodge. You made a lasting impression on a lot of students over the years. Here’s a fond memory of Coach: When he was teaching Driver’s Ed. and would take the students around the neighborhoods while they practiced driving, we would see them coming down the street and we’d all run and dive in to the bushes like maniacs. Coach thought it was hilarious, which is why I think our street was part of his regular route for the students. Coach Dodge was my Freshman and Senior P.E. coach at mission. Always on of my favorites.
