Obituary

On Sunday, April 30, 2023, Randall Wayne Allen passed away in his apartment in Orange, California.

Randy was born on September 26, 1994, in Mission Viejo, CA to Renee and Mike Allen. He joined his 2-year-old brother Kyle and was joined by little sister, Cassidy, 21 months later. He lived most of his life in his family home in Portola Hills, CA.

Randy was baptized and confirmed at Community Lutheran Church in Rancho Santa Margarita where he remained an active member his whole life. There he attended preschool, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, drama camp, backpacking and participated in numerous volunteer activities for the less fortunate.

Randy’s family fondly remembers his early childhood spent playing with his siblings, friends, cousins, and neighbors.  His creativity and imagination were endless; there was always a newly created game to play or an inventive twist to an existing one, with the new rules often favoring Randy’s inevitable “win.”

Outside of his home, Randy also enjoyed sports and other outdoors activities including baseball, soccer, swimming, basketball, golf, lacrosse, camping, and Indian Guides.

Growing up, Randy attended Portola Hills Elementary School, Serrano Jr. High, and El Toro High School. He was a great writer and a natural athlete.  His innate gifts and stubborn determination allowed him to excel in any academic or extracurricular activity – as long as it was his idea and his choice. He earned a hefty scholarship and began college in the fall of 2013 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA.  There he joined the rugby team and worked in the university mail room. Randall moved back home in fall of 2015 for family support and treatment of his mental health diagnosis. Despite his struggles, Randy always had hope and faith for a better version of himself with God’s loving guidance. Randy eventually learned to cope with his diagnosis and did not let it define him.  He persevered and ultimately succeeded at living life the way he wanted.

Randy used his creativity to write, record and perform rap music including some Christ centered songs.  It was his way of journaling his struggles and rejoicing in his triumphs.  He shared many songs with family and friends.

Randy’s faith was strong, and the community of his church was always a sanctuary for him.  He told others about Christ and introduced new friends to Community Lutheran Church.

Randy will be laid to rest on May 18, 2023, with a private family ceremony at O’Connor Mortuary with interment at El Toro Memorial Park.

Randy will be remembered and celebrated at Community Lutheran Church (30322 Via Con Dios, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688) on Sunday, June 25, 2023.  Ceremony commences at 4:00pm and is immediately followed by a reception on the premises including fellowship and dinner. All are welcome.

Randy is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew, and friends.
