Huestis
July 13, 1921 – April 8, 2008
Dr. Ralph Huestis, born July 13, 1921, passed away from natural causes on April 8, 2008. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to his surviving wife, Joyce and loving father to his two children, Harold Huestis and Teresa Mendelson. Dr. Huestis was a resident of Tustin, California since 1972. Dr. Huestis served his country from World Ward II to 1981. He enlisted in World War II as an Army medic and was stationed in Europe. He came back and entered the University of Oregon, graduating with a BA and a doctoral degree by 1951. He operated his own dental practice in Oregon until 1958. He was commissioned as a dental officer in 1958 and served in the US Navy until his retirement as a Captain in 1981. While in the US Navy he served at sea 3 times during the Vietnam conflict. He last managed the dental clinic at MCAS El Toro.
He remained an avid and scratch golfer and champion swimmer all his life. His breaststroke swim records at the University of Oregon were not broken for decades. He is also survived by two grandchildren and one great grandson. A memorial service is planned for April 18, 2008.
