  1. My Uncle Ralph is someone I remember as always being very nice and funny. Every time we visited the Tackes family house, years ago, in Schaumburg, IL,I came away with a great feeling of family and friends. My cousins and especially my Aunt Jeannie, I hope you can find some peace in the fact that he was loved immensely throughout his life. He was a very special man and always made me feel good as a child and teenager. He was very understanding and I wasn’t an easy teen, and Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Ralph literally saved my life, in New York.he For that I am forever grateful to you both. I will miss my Uncle Ralph.

  2. “All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. … Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t, it is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn’t. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you.”

I think Ralph found a path with a heart and was blessed with a wonderful family and dear friends. You can’t help but grieve for the people you lose in life but I hope those blessed to have shared his life take the time to celebrate and give thanks for all of the special moments and memories. They will always be with you.

Rest in Peace Ralph. You will be missed and celebrated.

  4. Beth and I send our deepest condolences to Mrs. Tackes,Tom, Mary, Jane, Judy and Nick ….their spouses and children. I have so many wonderful memories of Mr. Tackes and the entire family….starting with the house in Leawood, KS and of course, in Schaumburg. Mr. Tackes loved DePaul basketball. I remember getting together at the Single File before games at Alumni Hall, “the bow tie on Belden.” He loved to talk about all the great players from the era. He was always a gracious host and allowed me to stay 2 months in the “red” basement for 2 months in the summer of 1980, after Tom and I graduated. The entire family provided so much love and support and I will never forget that. Rest In Peace, Mr. Tackes……….Bob and Beth Dickey…..
