Obituary

Ralph D. Brown
September 6, 1947 – January 15, 2015

Ralph Brown, 67, passed away suddenly at his home in Lake Forest, California. He was a loving partner, father, papa, pops, brother, uncle and cousin. He was a kind and caring presence to all who had the good fortune to call him a friend. He was a man of genuine kindness and integrity who was always giving to others. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

He was born September 6, 1947 in the small town of Shirley, Indiana to Robert Brown and Ruby Chance. He lived a childhood of seemingly endless days of curiosity and imagination. He attended elementary school there, followed by his graduation in 1965 from Eastern Hancock High School. He made many lifelong friends there which he had the good fortune of visiting this past summer.

Ralph had such a big spirit, a big personality and loved being the center of attention. He loved a good joke and telling them and making people laugh. He was always there to lend a helping hand and would give you the shirt off his back.

He was a collector of watches, antiques and cherished family heirlooms. His love of trains lead to his hobby of collecting model trains and village pieces transforming his sun porch into a marvelous railroad village.

His love for cooking such dishes as his signature potato soup, homemade macaroni and cheese and smoked sausage soup has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. Besides rocking, pig latin and talking backwards, his past time hobbies included crossword puzzles, fishing, bingo, pool and reading. He enjoyed starting his day with a cup of coffee at the clubhouse where he was joined by his “old geezers”.

He had a life-long love affair with sports. He loved the Indy 500, Nascar, the Colts, the Pacers, the Celtics and college football.

Ralph took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look could be a favorite hot dog shirt paired with a chain necklace adorned with a sink stopper and to top it all off a hat with a fake ponytail.

He is survived by many and loved by all.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, at the O’Connor Mortuary at 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, California. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service.
