Obituary

Raquel Jessie Churchward
June 23, 1938 – February 25, 2015

Born to Juan and Esperanza Del Toro near Guadalajara, Mexico. Raquel is survived by her husband, Donald Churchward; their children, Charles, Mark, Victoria, Donna; and seven grandchildren: Danielle, Vincent, Lake, Maddie, Bridget, Nick and Peyton. She is also survived by her siblings Daniel, Mercy, Joe, Maria, Emma, George, and David. Known as “Rachel” to her closest family and friends. She met and married her Manual Arts High School sweetheart, Don, in January 1957. They moved to Buena Park in 1963 before finally settling in Huntington Beach in 1967. Huntington Beach became their true home to raise their family to this day. Her passion for Jesus Christ, life, friendship, family, learning and strength of character were instilled in her family every day.

Her love of family and friends and zest for life was only exceeded by her beauty, strength, grace and compassion. Her open arms and hugs were always home to many. She will be missed and always remembered.

Memorial service to be held Wednesday, March 4, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Newport Beach. Rachel’s final resting place will be at Cemetery of the Holy Sepulcher in Orange.

  1. I will miss my sweet Rachael for many many years to come. To say she was a wonderful friend lady, mother wife would be an understatement . Her family was her life. She was the best a person could want or need in a friend. She made you see what was capable. Unstoppable in all areas of her life. She loved her family and esp her Dear Husband of 58 yrs Donald with a vengence. She would help you when ever you needed it and when it was some times inconvienent for her, but she did it any way. Her children who are now grown as wonderful adults who bring value and honor to a world that has so little of that. I miss her so much it hurts and cant believe she is gone from our site. She is def in Heaven Heavenly Father had work for her to do. She will be forever beautiful young and for ever loved by any one who has had the blessing to have met or to have known her. I am much better for having known her. I will cherish the time I had with her on earth and when i get to heaven my self she will be one i look for first.I Pray for her immed family her beloved husband Donald and her great kids who are now adults Chuck, Marko, Victoria, and Donna. Not to exclude her grand children who she loved so much. I love you dear friend sweet dreams, rest easy. I will always hold you dear in my heart forever. Warren Zevons song says it best Keep me in your heart for a while. Dear Mom,
WE MISS YOU ALREADY! It’s as though you are still with us. I was just thinking about all the wonderful times you and dad welcomed all of our family and friends. Your house was never empty. It was always filled with love and friendships. The list of family and friends who stayed there, at one time another, is longer than the 40 year list of guest hosts for Saturday Night Live! What great memories for us all. Thank you Mom and Dad! You made Huntington Beach the place to be!

    Your son,
    Chuck
