Phyllis Evelyn Maurer,90, passed away at Regency Pacific Assisted Living in Oak Harbor, WA on Tuesday September 16,2025.

Phyllis was born on December 5th, 1934, in Bay City, Michigan, to Hertha Koeppen and Fred Born as the youngest of 5 children.  Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Alpena, MI, to attend nursing school, where she completed her RN credential.  She met her husband, James Taylor, MD, at the hospital where she worked, who was completing his residency.  They were married in New Orleans in 1955, moved to California and had two children, Stephen and Paul Taylor.  After their divorce, she moved back to Michigan with the boys. She later completed her nurse anesthetist credential in 1974 and moved back to Southern California.  She remarried in 1989 to Arthur Maurer, who passed away in 2021.  She is survived by her son Paul Taylor and 4 stepchildren, Susan, Donna, Nancy and Roger along with seven grandchildren.  Phyllis was passionate about her Christian faith and her church.  Her hobbies were going to the gym and reading.
