Obituary
Philip Roland Fagan passed away at the age of 75. He was a kind and caring family man who was proud of his Irish-Italian heritage. He was a devoted husband, father and son who shared his love of the ocean, animals, drawing and cooking with all who knew and loved him. Philip was born in Newport, Rhode Island on January 28, 1933 to Philip Augustin Fagan and Dina Regina Uperti Fagan. The family moved to California when Philip was 10 years old. The family settled in Long Beach where Philip attended Saint Anthony’s high school. Philip served in the Army during the Korean War and graduated from California State University Long Beach, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minor in history. He had a 34-year long career as an aerospace engineer in Advanced Systems with Rockwell International where he retired from the Satellite Systems division in 1988. Philip married Joan Ann Davis in 1956 and together they raised six children in Cypress, California. It was their dream to someday live in a house near the ocean. This dream materialized when Phil and Joan moved to Laguna Niguel in 1988. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 47 years. He is survived by sister, Nadine Morella of Texas, children Patricia Gray, Philip M. Fagan, Jennifer Fagan, Jeffrey Fagan, Hilary Seleb and Michelle Allen, 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services are to be held Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 10:00 am at Mission Basilica, San Juan Capistrano, followed with the interment of both Philip and Joan Fagan at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, California.

I am honored to have had a caring grandpa that always was there for me. It was very fun to swim in his neighborhood pool. On my birthday he would send me the amount of money that the age I just turned. I miss you grandpa!

I feel so blessed to have met such a sweet, gentle and loving man. I will miss your beautiful smile, laughing blue eyes and warm hugs. You and your family have embraced Summer,Morgan and I as your own and have truely shown what family is really about. Until we meet again in Heaven we will keep you in our hearts and cherish our memories and laugh when we look at the pictures of you watching the Hula dancing girls.

I wanted to take a moment to say how sorry I am that my Uncle Phil has passed away. He was a man who lived a great life, and his example is inspirational to me in many ways.
He raised a wonderful family. He worked hard and became successful. He laughed and loved.
How is a man to be judged, when all is said and done? He is judged by the love that remains within his family when he is gone. In this regard, Uncle Phil will always be a very wealthy man.
In the future, when I think of my Uncle Phil, I will picture him in Heaven with his loving wife, and his mom and dad. I love you Uncle Phil.

I would like to take this moment to offer my sympathies to the families and all that knew Phil Fagan.
My uncle Phil was the smartest man I have ever known. Whether it be his engineering work for the space program or his astute knowledge of politics my Uncle Phil spoke the truth and I listened learned and prospered as a result.

I am Phil’s sister and was very saddened to hear of his passing.
I have wonderful memories of our childhood together, such as clam bakes on the beach in Newport, RI, and horseback riding in California.
Phil was fortunate to have a wonderful wife, Joan, and terrific children who all loved him.
God has called him home, and he is there with Mom and Dad and Joan.
