Obituary

Peter Raymond Bingley, 79, of Mission Viejo, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 with his entire family at his bedside. Born to Joseph and Mary Bingley on December 23, 1928 in Shannock, Rhode Island, he was the youngest of 7 children. His parents traveled during the mass migration to ‘America’ from Ireland and England, seeking a more prosperous life for their children. They migrated to Southern CA in the early 1940’s, where all but one took up their residence and careers, with the memories of those days in New England ever etched in their mind and souls. Peter attended Citrus College in Pomona and graduated from Redlands University as Class President and Valedictorian. He married Elizabeth Betty Harris in 1949, and together they had four children, Peter Jr, Norma, Cathy and Danny, three of whom reside in Orange County Norma passed away in 2005. He lived a full life with many accomplishments in his career which required relocation to several cities and states, always with his family in tow. His devotion to his heritage, his country and family was undying and he sought to ensure his family and extended family was kept close to his heart. He proudly served in the Navy in World War II, as did all of his brothers. We cannot put into words the love he had for his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and for his wife of almost 60 years. They together, made sure we knew where we came from, so we would understand how fortunate we are today.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty, and three of his four children, Peter Jr, Cathy and Danny, along with his sister Dorothy Dottie Powell, and his many grandchildren Michael, Cathy, Peter, Stacy, Donna, Chris, Debra, Michelle, David, Danny, Joey, Melissa and great grandchild, Hannah.

He will be missed more than there are words to express, with his legacy and memories living forever in the hearts of the remaining family members – and beyond. We love you forever and always. Your Irish eyes will always be smiling and the world will smile with you, until eternity.

  2. This is just somethin i wrote for you grandpa. You meant the world to me and i just wanted to express what i was feeling at the time.

It is then, that I think of him.
    The gentle, caring tender man
    who was always there
    to hold my hand.

The man when I was little
had hand braces and a cane.
Many days he was so sick,
yet he tried not to show his pain.

As I sit and look into the horizon,
the wind chimes dangling in the breeze,
I watch the sun setting over the field
And the birds up in the trees

This man I remember through the years
who told us stories from the service
and no matter how many people he talked to
    he would never get nervous

He”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢d read us plays like Romeo and Juliet
The words play in my mind, and it”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s something I”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢ll never forget
“°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…”GOOD NIGHT, GOOD NIGHT! PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW,
THAT I SHALL SAY GOOD NIGHT TILL IT BE MORROW”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Â

Years passed by and we grandkids grew up
and he loved us still, even more
but he was still always there,
    being sweet to the core

this man believed strong in family
and always had faith in God.
He held us together for oh so long
For in his heart, that’s where we all BELONG!

I’ll never forget the day of the news
we were miles and miles away
    We turned the car around
And we were homebound with no delay

The journey home was so so long.
next to him was where we belong
I couldn’t cry, I had to be strong.
Going on this trip was stupid and wrong

    I remember her terrified face
her sense of hostility and fast heart pace
You could see the tears ready to fall from her eyes
When she saw us come in it was a great surprise

when I walked in the room my face quickly turned pale.
my pulse was fast, my heart started to fail
to see him cold, motionless and alone
he felt like ice, and he looked like stone

Each of us took turns, sitting by his
    side.
    Knowing in our hearts…
that this was the end to his amazing life ride

    love always and forever,
your wittle wissy : love you gramps, miss you
