Peter Felix Grande was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and an outgoing friend to all. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1925, he spent his youth in New Jersey with his sisters Rose, Carol, and Elda. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1942 where Pete became the first person in his family to attend college, enrolling at The University of Southern California, graduating with honors in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.
Pete began his pharmacy career with Horton & Converse pharmacy prior to serving in the US Army during the Korean war. Upon return from the army, he returned to pharmacy and became Supervisor for all 24 Horton & Converse pharmacy locations. In 1965 he purchased Malloy’s Pharmacy in Inglewood, CA as owner and operator for over 30 years.
On June 26,1954 Pete married Grace Presto on June 26, 1954. In 1956 their first of six children was born. Although he worked nights and weekends, in addition to his day job, he never missed dinner with his family. Over the years Pete transformed his neighborhood drug store as a trailblazer in the medical supplies sales and rentals business. Pete was involved in many philanthropic and civic organizations including The Exchange Club, Rotary, and Knights of Columbus.
Peter passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 at the age of 98 surrounded by his loving family. His outgoing personality, intense commitment to, and love for his family, especially his beloved wife Grace, were hallmarks of his character. Pete is survived by his children Stephen Grande (Sandra), Peter Grande (Wendy), Diane Donahue (Kevin), Gina Harvey (Mike), Greg Grande (Lynne), Gigi Sharell (Jerry) as well as 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
