Obituary

Peggy Adelaide Van Dalfsen 90 of Lake Forest, CA, passed away on August 22, 2008. Peggy was born in born in Fillmore, CA on June 19, 1918, daughter of Hester and Leonard Robinson. Peggy’s family moved to Pasadena in the early 1920’s and she attended John Muir Technical High School and Pasadena J. C., as it was known at that time. She married Tom Van Dalfsen on June 6th, 1946 and they enjoyed almost 60 years together before his death in May of 2006. They moved from Altadena to Laguna Niguel in 1970 when Tom’s company moved to Newport Beach and eventually they settled in Laguna Beach. They later moved back to Laguna Niguel and eventually to Freedom Village in Lake Forest.

She was passionately devoted to her family and church. Peggy participated in various women’s groups at Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena. She was most active in a group called Matronalia, which organized and managed weddings and receptions at the church. Proceeds of that group went to fund scholarships for deserving students. Peggy was also a member of the Westmont College Women’s Auxiliary. Upon moving to Orange County, Tom & Peggy were very active in the early years of Crown Valley Covenant Church in Laguna Niguel and later became members of Grace Community Church in Lake Forest.

Peggy and her husband Tom loved to travel around the world and had many wonderful times together exploring exotic and far away places. They especially loved their special times and friends in Hawaii, and returned there often.

Peggy was loved by all of her family and we will miss her. She is survived by her daughters; Diane Dickinson and her husband Tim, Tomilynn Blanton; and son, Jim Van Dalfsen and his wife Diane; sister Joan Emanuelson and her husband Joe; and brother Con Robinson. Peggy leaves 4 grandsons, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. The family requests that donations be made in her name to Tahquitz Pines Christian Conference Center in lieu of flowers. Tahquitz Pines, P.O. Box. 55, Idyllwild, CA 92549

    Tom and Peggy were an exceptional couple. I valued their friendship and I will miss them both. Peggy is now united with Tom in our Fathers presence.
