It is with great sadness, and with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the loss of our beloved husband and father, Paul Sampson.

Paul had a long successful career at 3M company starting as a sales representative that led to becoming the Director of Key accounts in the Consumer Business. He played a key role in growing the business significantly with the largest companies.

To Jeanette Sampson, Ken Sampson and Koren Sampson Risafulli,
We are sadden to hear of Paul’s passing. There are so many things that we were part of over many years from the days beginning in 1964 when Paul and I both joined Gallant in Washington, D.C. Back then we didn’t understand what poor is and we were happy every month to get a check for pocket change of $400 dollars. There were so many people over the next seven or eight years who were willing to work hard or not much and Paul and I and others thought we hit the lottery when we got a check $900 dollars in a month. What was more valuable than our small money was the relationships we all created in D.C. and Virginia. It was worth it. THERE ARE MANY events that all of us who trying out on the streets to make money. While doing it in fun, sometimes too late on Friday nights, and kept a group of young 3M employees that had very successful careers. After not having seen the group of people, including Paul and myself, after many, many years, that day in Annapolis, sitting on a boat, was worth any expense. Staying on the positive side, in the late 60’s, many of us were fortunate enough to be given larger responsibilities and positions. I personally know of many persons in our earlier years openly said how could they get that job.
There are stories to be told and some not. Of course, none on myself and Paul! Without embarrassing myself and Paul, one of the earliest great stories would be “Thanksgiving at the Sampsons”. But smarter than the humans, who were in the kitchen with a bottle of wine, who showed the early version of UPS, because he (name not remembered), shipped the turkey from the dining room to the living room for his enjoyment.
It’s a shame that there are so few of us left to remember the fun times we had. If we ever had a chance we would love to talk about the “good old days”. Paul will not be forgotten.

Paul was an amazing person. He was an amateur football player as a young man. At 3M he was known for his work ethic and his endless kindness and humility. We first met in our early 3M careers. He went on to become a Director which is reserved for the best of the best. What an outstanding friend!
