Obituary

Loving husband.
Devoted father, brother and friend.

Paul Parviz Assadi lived a life full of happiness. He loved his family and friends, and cared so much about others.

He loved his wife dearly and just recently celebrated 31 years of marriage. A wonderful family man, he always cherished his daughters, valued their achievements, and was there to cheer them up when they needed him.

Music was his passion. He was a drum player at heart, but played some other instruments as well. You could always bet that he was humming a song or making music with whatever was around him, be it a pen, book, etc.

His laughter was contagious, his smile heartfelt. Above anything else, he had a beautiful spirit. He left us too soon. We will miss him a lot, but we will keep him in our hearts forever.

Please share your stories or comments about Paul Parviz. We would enjoy reading your memories of him.

Proud daughters, Neda and Raana.

  1. Dear Assadi-Nakhshab family
We are still very shocked from what has happened. Our memories of Parviz mostly dates back to when he was very young and living in Iran.He was always so quiet, kind and with a lovely smile. His love for music was with him from those days.
We pray that his soul lies in peace.

    Dear Nakhshab and Assadi family,

Even though Parviz is not among us anymore, his spirit is here always. He was full of joy especially when playing his music. I remember everytime I would ask him if everything is ok and his response was always “Tashakor.” I will miss seeing him at Thanksgiving dinner when he would always remember to give me the juicy, dark pieces. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May he rest in peace, and God bless him and his family.

    Love,
    Maryam

    Dear Assadi-Nakhshab family,

I will never forget Parviz’s smile while he would call me by his nickname for me: “Khanoom doctor,” and say “It’s been a long time.” I remember the first time he came to visit Nooshin when she and I were roommates, and he had a cold, so I made him soup. He told me whenever he would get a cold, he would be sick for at least 10 days, and yet my soup made him feel better the next morning. I have always cherished his first compliment to me about my soup, but of course, it wasn’t the last compliment I received from him. Parviz will always be in my heart as a sweet man who I have never seen angry. His warmth and caring heart is something that will be missed greatly. Our thoughts are with you as you make your way through this difficult time. Please know that you are not alone and that Parviz is always watching over you.

    Love,
    Shokoofeh

  4. It’s with a heavy heart that I write this. I’ve know Parviz and his family since childhood in south of Iran, Agha Jari, MIS and other towns in Khuzestan. Some of the memories are so vivid like it was yesterday even though it’s been over fifty years since then. I believe we are even related in some distance way. We usde to go to the oil company swimming pool during summer when school was out. I remember Mrs Assadi playing tennis at the oil company Apadana club. It seems so long ago. I remember Parviz during the early days when he arrived in the US. He was in Hanibal Missuori. I remember visiting him with my cousin and a mutual friend Jahanshah. He always had a joke about Ashirali and use Lori to tell it. I remember him and Nooshin visiting us in New Orleans. I was looking at those photos and so much comes to mind. I will miss him. Through out the years he would call and we reminisce about our time in Iran and the oil company. There was that connection and understanding between us as where he and I had come from. He was funny and we would talk about the people we know. We often talk about Iran and how we miss the oil company. My heart is aching. I’ve lost a dear friend and a link to our past. I pray for his wife and daughters and his entire family and ask god to give you all patience and his blessing. We will miss him dearly.
