Obituary
Pat Lucus, of El Toro, California, passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2020 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Long Beach on May 1st, 1944 & later moved to Orange County where she lived for over 50 years. Pat worked in the field of education, having a career at Saddleback College for 33 years in the Office of Administration with the President/Dean of Council.
Pat is survived by her partner Larry, her sons, Chris & Jay, her granddaughter Ashley, and many more who she has helped or inspired along the way.
She will be missed tremendously by her loved ones including all of her beloved animals.

Pat was an amazing individual with a heart of gold…. she had a servants heart and was constantly showing up for others. All of my memories of Pat involve a laugh and a smile. She was extremely devoted to her career at saddleback college and while I attended classes there she was revered as the “one who knew it all and gave it her all.” She will be missed by so many…. RIP sweet Pat.

GREG IS RIGHT: PAT GUIDED MANY ADMINISTRATORS AND FACULTY AND STAFF.
SOME OF YOU MAY REMEMBER THAT PAT WOULD DELIVER NEWSPAPERS (THE LA TIMES I BELIEVE) BEFORE COMING TO THE OFFICE. SHE WAS VERSATILE. SHE WAS ALMOST ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO CHAT, SHARE CONCERNS THAT WERE GOING ON AT THE COLLEGE. AND SHE ENJOYED HUMOR.

I love you Pat. You literally taught me how to be an academic Dean. The balance you were able to maintain between work and play was masterful.
Going bowling, laughing and running around doing payroll all seemed like doing the same thing. I hope you know how many people owe their success and careers to your vast knowledge and generosity sharing it.

Pat was one of the smartest people I know and probably invented multi tasking. She taught all of us, classified, faculty and administrators how to do our jobs and how to do them the most efficient way possible. She didn’t suffer fools and would let you know if you erred but there was always a hug along with the correction. I literally cannot imagine Saddleback College without Pat Lucus for all those decades. She seems to me to have been a big part of the heart of our college. Talk about institutional knowledge and memory! She knew more about why and how things were done as well as who was who and what they had accomplished. She also knew all the stories and could have written a best seller.
At work or outside of work if Pat was your friend…you had no better. I will miss our lunches, memories and laughter and thank her for the joy, help and love she so generously shared. Beth Brokaw
