Obituary

After a long and valiant battle with lymphoma, Pamela Gruwell Brown passed away at the age of sixty-eight on December 9, 2021.  She was at home with family.

Pam was the daughter of Elmo Gruwell Sr. and Betty Wolfe.  Pam is survived and sorely missed by her husband Richard; her children Becky, Chad, Mandy, and Torrie; and her eight grandchildren.  Her family will remember her as an attentive and caring person, eager to include everyone and promote harmony.  Easing the loss is the fact that she always made time for her loved ones, leaving all of them with fond memories.

Pam was born and raised in Blythe, California with her five siblings.  She was lucky to live near her grandparents and enjoyed spending time with extended family.  She attended Palos Verde High School where she was able to make many friends.  Later she attended Brigham Young University and studied fashion merchandising.  She met her future husband Richard in a speech class and was able to marry him in the Mesa Arizona temple after graduating.

Both artistic and practical, Pam used her passion for photography and sewing to not only express herself but to help others, preserving objects and memories.  Friends and family knew they could count on her to photograph important events and then share her work.  As a health clerk in the Irvine Unified School District, she assisted countless students with care and a sympathetic ear.

As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pam served her church and community in many capacities over the years. Just a few of her service opportunities were Relief Society President, a counselor and teacher in the Primary, and a Ward Missionary. In recent years she enjoyed serving in the office of the Newport Beach Temple. She was quick to volunteer her time and to welcome new people.  She shared her positive energy with others and enriched the lives of all who knew her.

We offer our deepest sympathies to you all in losing such a faithful and dear wife, mother, and grandmother.
We want to leave you with our dearest memories of Pam. We have fond memories of our boat rides and dinners together. Pam was a dear friend to Lisa, serving in the Newport Beach office together for many years.
You are all in our prayers and we are with you in looking forward to being together again in a better time.
