Norma Jean ‘Jeannie’ Andrews
Born June 15, 1960 Sumter, South Carolina
Died – August 8, 2014

Survived by three brothers:
Joseph Andrews, Jacksonville, FL
Charles D Andrews, Nashville, TN
David W. Andrews, Warner Robins, GA
And three sisters
Barbara A, Partin (Norman), Wedgefield, SC
Margaret A. Keeys, Bishopville, SC
Laura Ellen Andrews (Hal Roberts), Cassatt, SC

Predeceased by sister Teresa A. Yancey and brother James William Andrews.
Sumter High School – 1978 graduate
Surgical Technician training at Anderson Hospital, Anderson, SC – 1979
1981-1987 US Air Force (active and reserves) stationed in Merced CA and Yakota AFB, Japan
where she received the rank of Sergeant, the Air Force Commendation for Meritorious Service
Employed as an Operating Room Buyer at St Joseph Hospital, Orange, CA since 2003
Jeannie loved the Lord, life, reading, playing the violin, and travel when she could. She loved spending time with friends and visits from her family. Jeannie collected kitchen gadgets, jewelry, and cookbooks.
Jeannie was a wonderful spirit and a shining example of Christian life to others. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or in Jeannie’s name to a charity of one’s choice.

We met Jeannie when she came over to plan a Longerberger party. We hit it off and I told her we’d be friends for life! But she was more than a friend; more like a daughter. We’d talk about her work challenges, encourage, advise, listen to cat tales (she loved her kitties), horses, ballroom and Latin dance. We introduced her to British mysteries and drama, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. She enjoyed a meal with us once or twice a week. She loved books, especially cookbooks, and Christmas. Each year we would hit the stores to shop for Christmas ornaments. She enjoyed hunting for the perfect ornament for each friend. Last year she was disappointed she could not find the moose (meese?) for the gentlemen at St. Joes. Jeannie was a caring, thoughtful woman who loved The Lord, reading and studying scripture, her BSF courses and Christian books and radio. These last six months were a tremendous trial for Jeannie, but were filled with moments of joy as family, friends and pastors rained abundant love and comfort upon her. We rejoice that she is at rest in heaven singing, “The Lord God Omnipotent Reigns!”

I only just heard about my friend Jeannie Andrews passing today, more than a year after it happened! I am so sorry for the loss of such a beautiful spirit to her family and friends…She was a joy to have as a friend in high school, I had moved to SC from Virginia, and we became friends… my father JDWard was in the Air Force, she knew him and my mother Margaret C. Ward (who grew up in Sumter) and my mother (90) remembers her too!..she came over to my house after school and we would do stuff after school, a good friend.. she was fun, kind, and had a great sense of humor! I remember she came back to Sumter after training for the Air Force and was in great shape ready to conquer the world, and I was going to college. She moved to California, and we lost touch, but I considered her a dear friend. God bless all of her family! She was beautiful inside and out, and I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
