Nancy Elizabeth Reid passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday January 5 ^th , 2024 at the age of 64. She was born July 4 ^th , 1959 in Ontario, Canada. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She is survived by her father, David, her sister, Diane, and her nieces and nephews, Jennifer, John, Brian, and Megan along with her aunts and cousins.

As a graduate of the University of California Irvine, Nancy pursued a career that followed her passion for reading and literature. Later, she completed her Master’s degree while living overseas in Wellington, New Zealand.  During the next twenty years, her journey continued across both New Zealand and Australia. After settling down in Melbourne, Australia, Nancy became an instructor at the Australian Catholic University for more than 15 years. She worked with students as they transitioned from Secondary school to University life, socially and educationally. She especially enjoyed working with overseas students studying at the University who were also learning English as a second language.  In 2013, Nancy returned to Southern California to spend quality time with her family.

Nancy had many hobbies, which kept her busy and active.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially with fruits and vegetables she grew. Nancy loved all types of reading, especially books written by the acclaimed author, Doris Lessing, who was the subject of Nancy’s graduate studies.  Her most prized hobby was spending time at the ocean and beach.  Nancy loved to take walks along the shoreline, gathering shells or watching Sea lions.  The ocean was a peaceful sanctuary for her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Madeleine, her sister, Jacqui, and her beloved husband, Garth Reid. A rosary and funeral mass will be held on Friday January 26 ^th , 2024 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church 29102 Crown Valley Pkwy, Laguna Niguel, California 92677 at 9:30 AM. Burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery will follow.
